About Us | Piece of Cake Party

We started Piece of Cake Party because we love to throw parties — and we especially love searching for the perfect elements to make them special. We met 25 years ago at our first job and have been celebrating together ever since.

Lisa went on to help create The Knot and ran Brides at Condé Nast. Xanthe worked at MoMA and founded the cult-favorite brand Love Balloons. Between the two of us, we've spent decades in the world of celebrations — writing about them, designing them, styling them, and throwing more birthday parties, bridal showers, holiday gatherings, dinner parties, and backyard BBQs than we can count. And somewhere along the way, we noticed the same thing every time: nobody remembers the grand gesture. They remember the cocktail napkin that made them laugh. The birthday candles that sparkled exactly right. The candlestick that made someone ask "Where did you find that?" The details are how you show people that entertaining them is worth the effort. That's the whole idea.

Finding those things, though — that's the part that takes hours. Searching through dozens of party supply sites, second-guessing whether it'll look as good in person, wondering if it'll even arrive in time. We love doing that work. But we know most people don't.

So we built the shop we always wished existed. Every paper plate, napkin, and tableware piece is handpicked, every detail considered — so you can skip straight to the part where the party looks exactly the way you imagined it.
